Importance of technology

Importance of  Technology
Importance of  technology and how you can utilize them in your teaching:
In today's world, technology is a major part of our lives. Many school systems and child development programs have incorporated into their curriculum opportunities for children and teachers to become familiar and comfortable users of technology as a learning tool. This makes it very important for teachers to stay ahead of the learning curve when it comes to technology and its use in the classroom. Technology can add that extra zing and excitement to any lesson.
A number of advances in educational technology, however, may help early childhood educators to rethink the potential of using technology in their classrooms.  These days ,the extensive use of technology everywhere has made it almost mandatory that technology be used in the classroom as well, by both teachers and students.  In addition to the necessity of becoming acquainted with the importance and use of technology, there is also a fun-factor associated with the use of technology in the teaching-learning environment.
Use of technology in classroom
Children as global citizens who need to learn real-world concepts, and in a Classroom children are actively engaged in real-world learning. Technology has the potential to play an important role in this dynamic approach when computers are used as a tool to reinforce skills – to be relatable to the life skills children are developing – rather than as the focus of a specific computer education class taught within a one hour period in isolation. Currently in our classrooms, there are IPads and desktop computers. The students use these tools to enhance research and presentation, and to reinforce skills learned within the classroom. At the elementary level, students learn to create PowerPoint presentations and videos to support the communication of their research.
The digital technologies can enable students to become more active and independent learners.  The Internet will allow new "Knowledge-building communities" in which children and adults from around the globe can collaborate and learn from each other.  Computers will allow students to take charge of their own learning through direct  exploration, expression and experience.  The shifts the students role from "being taught" to "learning" and the teacher's role from "expert" to "Collaborator" or "guide".
Importance of technology in teacher's life:  Lot of teachers think it is time to include technology in their kit because it reaches students on level they are comfortable with.  Nowadays children watch television, play video games, surf the internet and use cellular phones on a daily basis.  And while we may not wholly appreciate the trend, we can certainly use students technological literacy to their advantages in the classroom.  The learner-centered teaching style is focused on using variety of teaching techniques to meet the needs of each learner, and it is most conducive to technology integration.
A classroom that incorporated learner-centered teaching may include opportunities to:
1. Explore
2. Hold them in hands on activities
3. Reflect
4  Collaborate with the other students
